How food, cooking and farming work in 99 Nights in the Forest: every crop and hunger value, Farm Plots, the Crock Pot, Chef recipes and the meals that keep you alive.
Última atualização: 13 de agosto de 2026Food, Cooking & Farming Guide — Every Crop, Recipe & Stew
The hunger bar is the one meter you fight every single night in Dino Kid. Starve and you die; eat well and you heal. This guide covers every crop, how Farm Plots and the Crock Pot work, the Chef recipes worth the class, and the meals that keep you alive through cultist raids and cave rescues.

Why food is the real endgame
Hunting drains ammo and pulls you off the fire. Farming and cooking cost almost nothing, happen at base, and pay out in two currencies at once: hunger and HP. A mature plot line plus a Crock Pot means you walk into every night already topped up, and dishes like Hearty Stew and Carrot Cake turn food into healing and free Night Vision.
- ▸Hunger at zero = death, so food is non-negotiable from Day 1.
- ▸Cooked food heals HP — Hearty Stew restores 15, Carrot Cake adds 10.
- ▸Stew and Pumpkin Soup warm you in the Snow Biome’s freeze zones.
- ▸Crops are renewable; meat is not — plots beat the hunt long-term.
- ▸Diet-locked badges (Vegetarian, Carnivory) turn meal choice into a challenge.
Every crop and what it’s worth
Six crops make up the plant side of your diet. Hunger is shown as rough points — Pumpkin leads, Carrot is the dependable early filler, and Chili trades raw value for a speed buff.
| Crop | Hunger | Where to get | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carrot | 1 | Wild, Farm Plots, Grocery Store | The reliable early staple — eat raw or cook into Stew. Found everywhere. |
| Berry | 1 | Wild, Berry Seed Pack | Does not regrow on its own; plant Berry Seed Packs for a renewable supply. |
| Apple | 1 | Grocery Store (random spawns) | Also cooks into Stew; Apple Trees come from the Farmer class at Level 2. |
| Chili | 1 | Chili Seed Pack | Same hunger as other crops but grants a short speed boost — great for escapes. |
| Corn | 2 | Farm Plots only | Grown exclusively on plots; a key Stew ingredient and the Thanksgiving bottleneck crop. |
| Pumpkin | 4 | Farm Plots (low chance) | The best crop in the game — four hunger raw, excellent in Stew and Pumpkin Soup. |
Farming — plots, classes and the Crock Pot
Farm Plot
20 Wood ×2 to build, up to 20 plots. Crops grow passively every 2 in-game days — your set-and-forget food line.
Farmer class (80 Diamonds)
Level 1 waters plots for rarer crops, Level 2 grows apple trees from saplings, Level 3 guarantees a Pumpkin from every watered plot. The fastest route to food security.
Crock Pot
15 Wood + 10 Scrap + 15 Wood + 10 Scrap at Crafting Bench 3. Makes Stew (never uses Berries) and passively tops up hunger. The Cook class speeds it up.
Chef’s Station (Blueprint)
A Chef-class-only bench that unlocks stat-buff dishes — Steak Dinner, BBQ Ribs, Carrot Cake and Pumpkin Soup — beyond the basic Stew.
Cook class (40 Diamonds)
Level 2 speeds the Crock Pot by 20%; Level 3 has a 25% chance to produce Hearty Stew, which also heals 15 HP.
The Crock Pot explicitly excludes Berries — some older write-ups list them as a stew ingredient, but the current bench does not accept them. Stick to carrots, corn, pumpkin, apple, morsels, steaks, ribs, cakes and meat for your cooking.
All cooking recipes
Basic Stew comes from the Crock Pot; the four starred dishes require the Chef class and its Chef’s Station. “Forks” is the in-game hunger unit.
| Dish | Ingredients | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Stew | Any veg / meat + Crock Pot | Fills half your hunger and warms you if cold. The workhorse meal — Steak + any vegetable is the standard. |
| Hearty Stew | Crock Pot + Cook L3 (25% chance) | Same as Stew but also heals 15 HP. The best sustain food for long cave runs. |
| Steak Dinner | 1 Steak + 2 Any (Chef’s Station) | Four hunger forks — a top-tier cooked meal from the Chef class. |
| BBQ Ribs | 1 Ribs + 2 Any (Chef’s Station) | Four hunger forks and heals HP on top — strong for boss nights. |
| Carrot Cake | 1 Cake + 2 Carrot (Chef’s Station) | Four hunger forks + 9 minutes of Night Vision + 10 HP. Excellent for night scouting. |
| Pumpkin Soup | 1 Pumpkin + 2 Any, Master Pot | Four hunger forks and stays warm for 2 minutes — ideal for the Snow Biome. |
Meat & hunting food
Meat is the high-yield but non-renewable side of your diet. Every raw form damages you — cook it at the campfire first. Ribs from Mammoths and Elephants give the biggest cooked payoff, while Morsels from small critters are light filler.
| Item | From | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Morsel | Bunny, Frog, Arctic Fox, Scorpion | Raw deals damage; cooked restores ~2 hunger. The lightest meat. |
| Steak | Wolf, Alpha Wolf, Bear, Horse, Polar Bear, Mammoth | Raw deals damage; cooked restores ~2 hunger. Core meat for Stew and Steak Dinner. |
| Ribs | Mammoth, Elephant | Raw deals damage; cooked restores ~4 hunger — the heaviest meat yield. |
| Cake | Wild, Farm Plots | Heals 15 HP; also a Carrot Cake ingredient. Never waste it on plain eating. |
Food tips most players learn the hard way
- ▸Build Farm Plots on Day 1 — even three plots beat hunting once crops mature every two days.
- ▸Always cook meat and fish. Raw versions damage you and restore a fraction of the hunger.
- ▸Save Pumpkins for Stew and Pumpkin Soup — the Snow Biome loves the “stays warm” effect.
- ▸The Crock Pot never uses Berries. Some old guides are wrong; stick to carrots, corn, pumpkin, apple, morsels, steaks, ribs, cakes and meat.
- ▸Carrot Cake’s 9-minute Night Vision is the best free scouting tool for cave rescues — cook one before diving in.
- ▸Diet badges (Vegetarian, Carnivory and friends) lock your food choices — plan meals before committing, since they are hard-survival challenges.
