Epic Games revealed it on August 11, 2026 as part of the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" teaser campaign, alongside Sonic and Persona 5 crossovers.
Now live — launched August 20, 2026
Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 "Override" went live on August 20, 2026 (6:00 AM ET). The crossover content is in the game now; the season ended the day before, so The Deer’s Fortnite debut happened the very next day.
The Deer appears
The teaser shows Peely fishing at night before The Deer emerges from the treeline. The Deer is the game’s signature antagonist, so the cameo is instantly recognizable to players.
The "SurviveTheNight" clue solved
The cryptic Fortnite teaser code "SurviveTheNight" was first read as a Minecraft or Five Nights at Freddy’s hint. The August 11 reveal confirmed it pointed to 99 Nights in the Forest.
The Deer is an Item Shop skin — not Battle Pass
Epic’s full Override lineup (confirmed August 16–19) places The Deer in the Item Shop: Sonic and Tetris anchor the Battle Pass, while every other crossover skin — The Deer included — rolls out through the shop during the season. The exact release date and price are still TBA.
SurviveTheNight is live as a Lobby Hack code
Override’s "Lobby Hack" terminal is live in the Fortnite lobby (top-right “…/ admin panel” prompt). Entering SURVIVETHENIGHT — not case-sensitive — triggers the 99 Nights collab reveal and pays out 2x Cheat Code Locators (TechNerdiness, August 20). Note: this is a Fortnite lobby code, not a 99 Nights in the Forest Roblox code.
Reported but not yet confirmed
Epic has now confirmed The Deer skin itself, but the finer details are still unknown — no price, shop date, or companion cosmetics have been announced:
- A possible forest-themed back bling, harvesting tool or emote referencing the survival loop.
- No dedicated 99 Nights POI, boss encounter, mythic weapon or quests have been announced.
- The Deer’s Item Shop release date and V-Bucks price are unconfirmed — shop drops roll out gradually across the season.
Why 99 Nights in the Forest?
Since launching in March 2025, Dino Kid has passed 28 billion visits and peaked above 14 million concurrent players, making it one of Roblox’s biggest experiences. Its simple loop — gather by day, survive The Deer by night, rescue the missing kids — turned The Deer into a recognizable mascot, which is why Epic borrowed it for Override.
