Dino Kid Hat & Costume — Official Roblox Item + Avatar Recipe

The red dinosaur hat is the whole reason Dino Kid has a name at all. Here is the official Roblox accessory (and how to spot the copy), the full four-piece avatar recipe, and what the hat does — and does not — do inside 99 Nights in the Forest.

Short answer: yes, and it is official

Grandma’s Favourite Games — the studio behind the game — publishes the Dino Kid hat itself on the Roblox Marketplace for 90 Robux. It is a normal head accessory: buy once, wear it on your avatar in any experience, keep it forever. It is not a Limited, so there is no resale market and no reason to panic-buy.

The two listings look nearly identical in a search result. The tell is the creator line: anything not published by Grandma’s Favourite Games is a fan recreation. Neither version is tradable and neither is eligible for Limited status, so “buy before it goes offsale” urgency in a description is marketing, not scarcity.

Does the hat do anything in-game?

  • No stats. It is an avatar accessory — zero effect on health, hunger, EXP or survival days.
  • You cannot loot it. Dino Kid’s hat is part of his NPC model; no chest, wolf or trader drops it.
  • It does show up in-game. Roblox renders your avatar accessories inside the experience, so other survivors will see you wearing it.
  • Warm clothing is separate. The Snow Biome hats (Beanie, Arctic Fox Hat, Polar Bear Hat, Mammoth Helmet) are crafted in-game and are the only headwear that actually matters mechanically.

The full Dino Kid costume, piece by piece

Works for a Roblox avatar and for a real-life outfit — the character is deliberately simple, which is why he is such an easy cosplay.

Red dinosaur hat

Head

Eyes and spikes on top, a row of teeth along the underside of the brim. His single most recognisable feature.

White wrinkled shirt

Torso

Plain white tee with visible creases — the “lost in the forest for days” look.

Blue jeans

Legs

Standard mid-blue denim, no rips or patterns.

Black shoes, white soles

Feet

Dark upper with a thin light sole strip — easy to fake with any default black shoe.

Yellow (classic Roblox)

Skin

Yellow on the missing poster and in the current model; older versions and the cage scene render him pale white.

Crying / sad

Face

He is crying in the poster and in the cage, though he is the least traumatised of the four kids.

Zero-Robux version

Skip the paid hat and the outfit still reads instantly: default yellow skin tone, a free white shirt, free blue jeans and black shoes. Any red dinosaur or dragon hood in your inventory finishes it — the silhouette does the work, not the price tag. For a real-life Halloween version it is a four-item shopping list: red dino hood, plain white tee, jeans, black sneakers.

Group costume: every kid is named after their hat

Kraken Kid

Blue kraken hat, brunette hair, white shirt and blue jeans. Second kid rescued; female.

Squid Kid

Yellow squid hat with a blue-and-yellow striped shirt and matching pants. Third kid; male.

Koala Kid

Purple koala hat, black shirt, black skirt and panda slippers. Last and hardest rescue; female.
